The rupiah’s exchange rate against the US dollar experienced pressure, reaching Rp 17,500 on Tuesday (12/5/2026), which could potentially affect smartphone selling prices in the country. This is particularly because smartphone models still rely on imported main components, such as chipsets and cameras. Nevertheless, several mobile phone distributors in Indonesia have assured that the industry has no plans to raise selling prices for the time being. One of those stating this is Head of Public Relations at PT Trinova Digital Indonesia (Honor Distributor), Aryo Meidianto Aji. He cited the Honor X6c and X7d, which after one month on the market, have seen no price changes. These two phones are priced at Rp 2,999,000 for the X6c and Rp 4,499,000 for the X7d. “So actually, regarding the price factor, from the initial launch of these devices until now, which is about a month, we haven’t made any price adjustments at all,” said Aryo in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5/2026). Aryo explained that the stable prices consider the number of devices available in the market and those to be ordered. During that period, there have been no re-orders. Ultimately, no factors will cause a price increase for the devices. Aryo also said something similar happened during the chip crisis starting late last year. There was no price increase whatsoever on their devices. “There was absolutely no price adjustment,” he stated. On the contrary, Honor implemented price reductions on several devices for various reasons. For example, during the recent Eid holiday period. “Like now, we’re offering price reductions of Rp 100-200 thousand, or sometimes there are none, perhaps during Eid holidays, or upcoming weekend holidays, and so on,” said Aryo.
