DOKU, a leading fintech payments company and provider of digital payment platforms in Indonesia, has launched Green Pantry, a circular waste management initiative that transforms office food waste into valuable compost.

This programme forms part of the company’s commitment to sustainability while contributing to carbon emission reductions.

Launched to coincide with Earth Day and DOKU’s 19th anniversary celebrations, Green Pantry targets the diversion of up to 65% of organic waste, or around 650 kilograms per month, from final disposal sites (TPA).

With daily occupancy of about 150-170 employees, DOKU generates nearly 1 tonne of waste each month, much of which consists of food waste. Recognising this potential, the programme is designed to manage waste directly at the source through an integrated waste management system in the office pantry.

“Even digital businesses leave a footprint. Through Green Pantry, we want to show that simple steps in the workplace can deliver real and measurable environmental impacts,” said Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer of DOKU (CMO) Himelda Renuat, in a written statement on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

Through the office composting system, employees are directly involved in sorting and processing food waste. In addition to reducing waste volume, this approach also encourages more environmentally friendly and sustainable work habits.

The resulting compost, named BeyondGrow, is processed through controlled stages from collection, dehydration, fermentation, to maturation. This product supports zero-waste principles and can be used for greening and improving soil quality.

As a follow-up step, DOKU is opening limited pre-orders for BeyondGrow to extend its benefits more widely. This compost can be used to enhance soil fertility and water absorption capacity, thereby supporting more optimal plant growth. “Change does not always have to be big. From the office pantry, we want to show that simple steps can deliver real impacts,” said Himelda.

Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of DOKU Nabilah Alsagoff added that this initiative reflects the company’s approach to integrating corporate sustainability into everyday operations.

“We believe sustainability must be part of the way we work. With the right systems and employee involvement, the impact can be managed consistently and measurably,” said Nabilah.

Green Pantry is part of DOKU’s ESG commitments, which encompass waste management, operational efficiency, and increasing employee awareness of more responsible practices.

The programme is designed to be easy to implement and scalable, with the hope that it can serve as a reference for other companies in building more sustainable operational practices.
