Dokter Tifa to Stand Trial Tomorrow, East Jakarta District Court Tightens Security
The East Jakarta District Court is tightening security for the inaugural trial of Tifauzia Tyassuma, known as Dokter Tifa, a suspect in an alleged defamation and slander case concerning the authenticity of the academic certificates of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo. The trial is scheduled for Thursday, 2 July, at 09:00 WIB. East Jakarta District Court Spokesperson Immanuel Tarigan stated that security cordons will be set up starting from the court’s main gate to ensure the proceedings run smoothly and to anticipate a surge in visitors and supporters. Tarigan noted that the restrictions are necessary due to the high level of public attention on the trial and urged the public not to flock to the court. Only parties with a direct interest in the trial will be permitted entry. The court has appointed a panel of judges to handle the special criminal case, registered under number 301/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Jkt Tim, with Christina Endarwati serving as the presiding judge. Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina will serve as member judges, supported by substitute clerks Joyo Supriyanto and Zuliana Maro. Meanwhile, the case involving co-defendant Roy Suryo cannot yet proceed as it is awaiting a pre-trial motion at the South Jakarta District Court. The case files for both defendants were transferred by the prosecution to the East Jakarta District Court on 23 June 2026 and have been declared complete following an administrative review by the criminal registry.
