Dog Abandoned on Brigif Toll Road, Found with Bleeding Eyes and Nose
DEPOK, KOMPAS.com - A brown-furred dog was found on the Depok-Antasari (Desari) toll road near the Brigif toll gate on Tuesday (17/2/2026) afternoon.
A resident named Novelita (32) found the dog while driving her car from Cilandak, South Jakarta, towards Depok.
Before the incident, Novelita saw a car in front of her slow down before a dog suddenly appeared, chasing the car.
However, the dog appeared frightened and continued to run after the same car. Novelita tried to guide it while waving her hands at other drivers to prevent the dog from being hit.
When the dog was in the fast lane, Novelita quickly evacuated it and moved it to the left lane to check its condition.
“At that time, its eyes and nose were bleeding. Because the blood looked fresh, it must have hit the asphalt when it was abandoned, so I took it to a clinic,” said Novelita.
Afterwards, the dog received medical treatment and vitamins because its condition was severely traumatized. However, physically, the dog was safe.
After ensuring its condition, Novelita took the dog to the Pejaten Shelter at around 12:52 PM.
So far, the dog’s physical condition is considered good because it was found and rescued by a resident.
“The dog’s condition is actually better than the previous ones. Because maybe if the previous ones had been abandoned for a long time (for several days),” Susana told Kompas.com on Thursday.
So far, the dog is considered stressed because it tends to eat little and looks gloomy or reluctant to move.
“Of course, its condition is gloomy. Not just dogs, but people who are placed in shelters or the like are also gloomy, or when babies are abandoned everywhere, their condition is similar,” said Susana.
According to her, the Pejaten Shelter has received reports of dogs being abandoned on the toll road near the Brigif toll gate about 2-3 times.
The Pejaten Shelter receives at least one report of dogs that need to be rescued, which means there are 365 dogs in a year that need to be accommodated.
