Documentary Reveals Republican Senator's Obsession with Toppling Iranian Regime

An exclusive report published by the US daily The Wall Street Journal has revealed previously unpublished footage from a documentary about Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. The recordings show another side of Graham’s role in pushing for military confrontation against Iran, including years of political and diplomatic efforts to convince Washington to go further in war and work to topple the Iranian regime. The report, written by journalist Josh Dawsey, states that director Alex Holder had been following and recording Graham’s political activities since 2023. Hundreds of hours of footage were collected before the senator died earlier this month. The recordings show that the Iran issue was a primary focus of Graham’s political agenda, and on several occasions, he is said to have pushed for more aggressive military action than even Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu desired. One recording captures a phone conversation between Graham and Netanyahu last March. In it, Graham planned to convince President Donald Trump to participate in bombing Hezbollah positions in Lebanon simultaneously with military operations against Iran. However, Netanyahu suggested the move be postponed. According to him, the main priority at the time remained Iran, and expanding the war into Lebanon risked triggering a massive response from Hezbollah that would not serve Israel’s interests.
