Documentary films at Erasmus

JAKARTA (JP): The Dutch Cultural Center, Erasmus Huis, will
present two documentary video films on plays produced by Dutch
film director Leonard Retel Helmrich on June 16 at the center on
Jl. Rasuna Said, South Jakarta.

"Jemand auf die Treppe", one of the two films, is of a play
presented by a group called Orkater. The play was filmed using a
super mobile camera specially designed for the film. The film
maker's idea was to capture the power of the theatrical
performance without using special tricks or effects.
Consequently, the 40-minute film was shot only once using the
super mobile camera.

The other film, Moving Objects, features characters from
theater groups in the Netherlands. The film provides insight into
the various styles and methods used in presenting plays, as well
as common techniques of bringing non-living objects to "life".

Known as the director of the big screen movie Het Phoenix
Mysterie, Helmrich also edits advertisements.

Helmrich will be in Jakarta on June 16 to provide information
about his documentary films. (als)
