The condition of YTR (29), the victim of alleged abuse and false imprisonment by Taufik Hidayat, continues to show positive development. After receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung, the victim is now able to communicate, eat, and sit up independently. YTR was previously a victim of confinement and abuse that allegedly lasted for years at a boarding house in the Cileunyi area of Bandung Regency. As a result of the violence, the victim suffered serious injuries to several parts of the body, including damage to the eyes and face. The case has drawn national attention and is currently being processed by the West Java Regional Police. RSHS Bandung’s Director of Human Resources, Education, and Research, Dr Fitra Hergyana, said the victim’s physical and psychological condition has continued to improve since receiving treatment at the hospital. ‘The wounds are currently showing improvement. Their psychological state has also improved. The person concerned can now chat, eat, and also sit up,’ Fitra said. ‘Regarding communication, they are still speaking only a little because they are still in the recovery period. That is all, thank you,’ he continued. However, the medical team has not yet scheduled any surgical procedures. Currently, the doctors’ main focus is on restoring the victim’s general condition so they are in the best possible state before undergoing further medical procedures. ‘While waiting for the surgery, the important thing now is recovery first. Once their general condition is stable, we will carry out the next steps,’ he said. Fitra explained that so far the victim has not undergone surgery. The treatment provided has been debridement, or wound cleaning, to prevent infection and accelerate the healing process. ‘No surgery yet. Yesterday, debridement was performed. Debridement is wound cleaning. In addition, their general condition and nutrition are also being improved, as is their psychological condition,’ he clarified. Regarding the reconstructive surgery plan, the hospital cannot yet confirm when the procedure will take place. All decisions will depend on the development of the victim’s physical and mental condition. ‘We are focusing on restoring their general condition first. We cannot yet estimate how long it will take. What is certain is that their psychological state will be restored first, then their nutrition improved until the person concerned is truly healthy,’ he said.
