Doctors Find Maggots in YTR's Head Wound, Infection Deemed Severe

Bandung – A shocking fact has emerged regarding the condition of YTR (29), the victim of alleged false imprisonment and torture in Bandung Regency by Taufik Hidayat. The medical team at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung discovered maggots in the wounds on the victim’s head during initial treatment. RSHS Bandung President Director Rachim Dinata Marsidi stated that the victim’s wounds were already severely infected upon arrival, forcing the medical team to perform immediate debridement surgery. “It can be said that the wounds are quite numerous and located on the head. And it can be said that this is a very, very severe infection. It can be said that there were maggots, perhaps, already present,” he said, quoted on Saturday, 27 June 2026. According to Rachim, the medical team’s primary focus is not on facial reconstruction surgery, but on ensuring the victim’s infection is completely resolved. Consequently, the hospital is restricting visits to YTR to reduce the risk of germ exposure that could worsen the wound condition. Once the infection is declared under control, the medical team will proceed to the reconstruction phase for the victim’s face, which has suffered significant damage. “We immediately performed wound cleaning surgery. We found bacteria that are quite severe, and for now, we apologise, but we are tightening restrictions and possibly for the next few days, no visitors will be allowed. Because those who come will bring germs. So our colleagues from plastic surgery cannot perform reconstruction. Because if there is an infection, it will certainly not heal,” he said. It was previously reported that the flight of Taufik Hidayat (30), the man suspected of imprisoning and torturing his own girlfriend for three years in Bandung, has finally ended. After being a fugitive hunted by a joint team from the West Java Regional Police, the suspect was successfully apprehended by police. This arrest marks a crucial point in the investigation of a case that has recently captured public attention. The victim, identified as YTR (29), was found in a distressing condition with multiple severe injuries suspected to be the result of prolonged violence.
