Doctors as a profession
Doctors as a profession
I am very concerned with the way doctors in Indonesia treat their patients.
There have been many cases where they are not capable of treating their patients, but instead of seeking a solution by way of consulting other doctors and specialists, they seem to prefer to keep mum.
Moreover, it seems common practice among doctors here to be reluctant to listen to a patient's complaints. Doctors seem to prefer the shortest possible communication with their patients. They show this by a gruff attitude that discourages a patient from describing his illness.
Such doctors are mostly the ones who are regarded as clever and successful.
I would suggest to the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) to take the matter into serious consideration because doctors should remember their pledge to help and serve the sick to the best of their ability.
Another suggestion to IDI is the simplification of the procedure for Germany and other Western countries graduated Indonesian doctors who desire to practice in Indonesia. We all know that Indonesia lacks qualified specialists and surgeons.
