Doctorate for Tjokorda
JAKARTA (JP): Tjokorda Raka Sukowati, who invented the pier- head system technique for building overpasses in Indonesia, received his doctoral degree with honors at the Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta yesterday.
Tjokorda, pioneer and dean of the School of Engineering of the University of Udayana in Bali and director of PT Hutama Karya, presented his dissertation entitled Sosrobahu, the Experimental Scientific Development and its Implementation in front of the university senate chaired by Prof. Soekamto Reksohadiprodjo.
Sosrobahu is the Indonesian term for pier-head system.
Antara reported that the University of Gajah Mada has graduated 256 doctors since it was established in 1949. (sim)
