Doctor Tifa's Series of Bafflements During Arrest: Police Hospital, Metro Jaya HQ, and Being Handcuffed

Tifauziah Tyassuma, also known as Doctor Tifa, recounted a series of baffling moments during her arrest and detention by Polda Metro Jaya officers late last week, before being transferred to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Jaksel) early this week. She shared several of her concerns during a press conference in Tebet, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (24/6). The first issue she raised was being handcuffed or bound with cable ties during her transfer to the Kejari Jaksel on Monday (22/6). Secondly, Tifa also expressed confusion as to why she and Roy Suryo had to be taken first from the Kramat Jati Police Hospital to Polda Metro Jaya, rather than directly to the Kejari Jaksel. For context, after being arrested by the police on Friday (19/6), Tifa and Roy were taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for health checks. However, both were eventually hospitalised to ensure their health conditions remained stable. “What was the point of going back to Polda [from the Police Hospital], why not go directly? But fine, we were taken to the detention centre wearing orange vests again, so I wore the orange vest. So then we arrived at Polda again, thankfully we didn’t go back into a cell, but we stayed in the holding area,” Tifa said during the press conference, accompanied by her legal counsel. In short, Tifa and Roy were then taken to the Kejari Jaksel for the phase II transfer process using a detention vehicle. During the journey, Tifa said the police officers escorting them asked her and Roy to wear handcuffs or cable ties. “It turned out they asked me to be handcuffed, inside the car I was asked to be handcuffed. I thought, why on earth should I be handcuffed? Who am I? I’m not a criminal, I have always been a very law-abiding person. ‘What’s the point of using this, why do you have to create all this drama?’ I said that,” Tifa stated. “Here I am, wearing an orange vest, and I’m happy. ‘It’s fine to wear it, if it makes you happy,’ I said. Now, what’s the point of handcuffs? ‘Alright, doc, please doc, please just wear the handcuffs, doc.’ Like that, so I just went along with it to make their drama complete,” she continued. It is known that Roy and Tifa arrived at the Kejari Jaksel at around 09.43 WIB on Monday. When exiting the detention vehicle, Roy was seen wearing a batik shirt and a detention vest, while Tifa was seen wearing a black and grey shirt and a detention vest. Both were also seen exiting the detention vehicle with red cable ties on their hands. Previously, Polda Metro Jaya had transferred Roy and Tifa along with evidence in the case concerning allegations about Jokowi’s diploma to the Kejari Jaksel on Monday (22/6). Following the phase II transfer process, the Kejari Jaksel decided not to detain Roy and Tifa. However, both are required to report once a week. South Jakarta Chief Prosecutor Marcelo Bellah revealed that the trial for Roy and Tifa in this case will be held at the East Jakarta District Court (PN Jaktim). However, he did not disclose the reason why the trial for Roy and Tifa is being held at PN Jaktim. Marcelo only stated that the trial process will be held as soon as possible, as the case qualifies as an important matter. Most recently, the Kejari Jaksel also transferred the case files for Roy and Tifa to PN Jaktim on Tuesday (23/6) at around 14.45 WIB. This transfer was based on the decision of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia Number: 114/KMA/SK.HK2.2/VI/2026 dated 22 June 2026, regarding the appointment of the East Jakarta District Court to examine and decide the criminal case on behalf of the defendants Roy and Tifa. “Furthermore, the Public Prosecutor is awaiting the trial schedule to be set by the Panel of Judges at the East Jakarta District Court,” said East Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence Section Head Yogi Sudharsono.
