Doctor Tifa's Exception Accepted, Trial Over Jokowi's Diploma Allegations Halted
The panel of judges at the East Jakarta District Court has granted the objection (exception) filed by defendant Tifauzia Tyassuma (Doctor Tifa) in the case of alleged slander and defamation related to the authenticity of the diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).
‘Adjudged, the advocate team’s petition is accepted and the public prosecutor’s indictment is declared null and void. Therefore, the other matters of the objection need not be considered,’ said Chief Judge Christina Endarwati during the interlocutory verdict hearing at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday.
Furthermore, the panel of judges ordered that the case files, indictment, and evidence be returned to the public prosecutor. All costs in the case are to be borne by the state.
‘Considering that the defendant’s advocates’ objection has been accepted, the examination of this case cannot proceed. Considering that it cannot proceed, the case file on behalf of defendant Tifa Fauziah Tyassuma along with all evidence must be returned to the public prosecutor,’ Christina explained.
Meanwhile, Doctor Tifa felt that the East Jakarta District Court had respected the legal process by examining the case thoroughly, leading to the acceptance of her exception.
‘For that, we express our deepest gratitude for everything that has been done so that justice and truth can continue to stand in this country, and above all, that everything comes from Allah SWT,’ said Tifa.
Doctor Tifa stated that she will continue to fight to uphold justice and truth against every falsehood in Indonesia.
‘All Indonesian people believe that the panel of judges’ decision today to accept our exception does not diminish my resolve, nor our resolve, to continue fighting for the truth, especially regarding the issue that has become a burden for the entire Indonesian nation concerning the authenticity of the diploma that has been a polemic,’ Tifa asserted.
