Doctor Tifa's Exception Accepted, Case File Returned, Trial on Jokowi's Diploma Halted
The panel of judges at the East Jakarta District Court has granted the objection (exception) filed by defendant Tifauzia Tyassuma (Doctor Tifa) in the alleged defamation and slander case regarding the authenticity of the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi). “Adjudicating, the advocate team’s petition is accepted and the public prosecutor’s indictment is declared null and void. Therefore, the other matters of the objection need not be considered,” said Chief Judge Christina Endarwati during the interlocutory decision hearing at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday. Furthermore, the panel of judges also ordered that the case file, indictment, and evidence be returned to the public prosecutor. All costs in the case are to be borne by the state. “Considering that since the defendant’s advocate’s objection is accepted, the examination of this case cannot be continued. Considering that since it cannot be continued, the case file on behalf of defendant Tifa Fauziah Tyassuma along with all evidence must be returned to the public prosecutor,” Christina explained.
