Defendant Tifauziah Tyassuma, known as Doctor Tifa, has withdrawn her pretrial motion regarding her arrest by investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) in a case of alleged defamation concerning the diploma of Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“We have decided to withdraw the pretrial application,” Doctor Tifa stated in Jakarta on Thursday (25/6).

The withdrawal of the pretrial motion came after she was granted a suspension of detention during the legal proceedings.

Doctor Tifa and fellow defendant Roy Suryo are now each preparing their own legal strategies, although they continue to coordinate in facing the charges. “The case has been split. Mr. Roy Suryo’s case is number 300, mine is number 301,” Doctor Tifa explained.

The South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office had previously decided not to detain either Roy Suryo or Doctor Tifa. Roy Suryo was arrested on the morning of Friday (19/6) by Jakarta Metropolitan Police investigators, a fact confirmed by his legal counsel, Refly Harun. Doctor Tifa was also arrested at her apartment on the same day.
