Doctor Tifa Faces First Hearing in Jokowi Diploma Case: 'We Have No Backers!'

Tifauzia Tyassuma, or dr Tifa, underwent the first hearing of the case involving alleged slander and defamation related to the authenticity of the diploma of the 7th President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), at the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday, 2 July 2026.

Dr Tifa explained that she is accompanied by 25 advocates in this trial. She emphasised that there are no parties backing her financially.

“Everyone is fighting without ulterior motives. We have no financiers; our financier is Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala,” dr Tifa told reporters at the East Jakarta District Court.

Furthermore, dr Tifa expressed her belief that this first hearing will provide a transparent overview of the case involving her.

“So, hopefully, the 280 million people of Indonesia can witness this easily and transparently. We will see how a faculty—a legal institution—will proceed, God willing, in an orderly manner to uphold justice and truth alongside all of us,” she asserted.

It was previously reported that the East Jakarta District Court appointed a panel of judges to handle the special criminal case, numbered 301/Pid.Sus/2026/PN Jkt Tim, under the name of the defendant Tifauzia Tyassuma (dr Tifa).

“The Chairperson of the East Jakarta District Court has appointed the panel of judges who will handle this case. Based on that determination, the panel of judges who will lead the trial is Christina Endarwati,” said the Spokesperson for the East Jakarta District Court, Immanuel Tarigan, at the East Jakarta District Court on Friday.

The appointment was made by the Chairperson of the East Jakarta District Court as part of the administrative process and preparation for the case.

According to him, the appointed panel is deemed to have adequate capability and experience in handling various cases.

The member judges for dr Tifa’s trial will be Rudi Rafli Siregar and Mathilda Chrystina Katarina.

Additionally, to support the smooth administration of the trial, the East Jakarta District Court has also appointed two substitute clerks, Joyo Supriyanto and Zuliana Maro.

He noted that the determination of the panel of judges also took into account aspects of competence, integrity, and the experience of the judges involved.

“The appointment of the panel of judges handling this case is the authority of the court chairperson. Naturally, the court chairperson has considered the capability of this panel,” said Immanuel.
