'Doctor, Please Help': The Pitiful Cry of Dr Icha in Fear During Alleged Intimidation by DPRD Officials

A young doctor named dr Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenomi, known as dr Icha, experienced severe depression before deciding to take her own life. Dr Icha had allegedly been intimidated by three individuals claiming to be members of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of North Central Timor Regency (TTU), East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The three individuals presented themselves as relatives of a patient treated by Dr Icha on Sunday, 14 June 2026, in the emergency department of Leona Kefamenanu Hospital. The patient had suffered a snakebite with local envenomation and had initially been taken to Kefamenanu Regional Public Hospital before being handled by Dr Icha. The young doctor was allegedly intimidated by the three officials because they were dissatisfied with the treatment provided. The patient’s family demanded that anti-venom be administered, even though medically the patient’s condition was still in the local phase and did not yet require the serum. Dr Icha had even consulted with a Snake Venom Toxinology Specialist, Dr Tri Maharani. Dr Tri Maharani recounted the moment she was contacted by Dr Icha for a consultation regarding the patient’s treatment. According to Dr Tri Maharani, Dr Icha contacted her on Saturday, 13 June 2026, at 5.30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. Dr Icha had called her repeatedly, but she was unable to answer as she was travelling. ‘Doctor Maha, please help, I am being scolded and shouted at because they are demanding anti-venom,’ Dr Tri Maharani quoted Dr Icha as saying on the Abraham Samad SPEAK UP YouTube channel. ‘Oh, the patient from earlier? Isn’t that a local phase? They don’t need anti-venom. Did you educate them properly?’ she continued. The victim confirmed she had provided education to the three DPRD officials, but they still refused to accept it. The toxinology expert then explained again how to educate the patient’s family. ‘So explain that only in the systemic phase is anti-venom required. If anti-venom is given during the local phase, the patient could die from anaphylactic shock. Try explaining it again,’ Dr Tri Maharani clarified. Dr Maharani revealed that Dr Icha had already explained the situation to the patient’s family and confirmed it with them four times.
