Doctor may get jail term for split lip

BANDUNG: A prosecutor has demanded that the Bandung District
Court sentence medical doctor Dedy S. Carol to two years in jail
for allegedly assaulting a television cameraman, Freddy Bangun.

The incident happened on July 19 this year at Hasan Sadikin
Hospital in Bandung, when journalists were covering a story on
Turino, the victim of an accidental shooting.

The doctor became angry after journalists, including Freddy,
ignored the doctor's order not to interview Turino. The doctor
insisted that the journalists had no permit from the hospital
administration to speak with his patient.

The doctor pushed Freddy's camera away from the injured man
and it bumped Freddy's lips, causing a slight injury. -- JP
