Doctor in Pekalongan Named Suspect Following Assault and Sexual Abuse of Domestic Worker

A specialist doctor with initials AI (46 years old) has been named as a suspect in an assault and sexual abuse case in Pekalongan city, Central Java. The victim is his domestic worker (ART).

AI was formally named as a suspect on Monday, 10 March 2026. The designation followed investigators’ collection of evidence during their preliminary investigation and formal inquiry.

“After conducting a series of preliminary investigations and formal inquiries, investigators have gathered two pieces of evidence. As a result, from 10 March 2026 onwards, we have designated the individual as a suspect,” said Setyanto, Head of Criminal Investigation (Kasat Reskrim) of Pekalongan Police, when asked for confirmation on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Setyanto continued, stating that multiple criminal charges had been brought against AI. “The charges applied are Articles 473 subsections (1) and (2) paragraph b, and Article 414 subsection (1) paragraph b of the Indonesian Criminal Code,” he said.

Article 473 subsections (1) and (2) paragraph b of the Indonesian Criminal Code addresses sexual intercourse with a minor and carries a maximum sentence of 12 years imprisonment, whilst Article 414 subsection (1) paragraph b concerns indecent assault with a maximum sentence of up to 9 years imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the victim’s legal representative, Imam Maliki, expressed gratitude to investigators from the Gender and Child Protection Unit (Unit PPA) of Pekalongan Police, commending their efforts in bringing the case to the point of formally designating the accused as a suspect.

“We wish to express our gratitude to the Gender and Child Protection Unit of Pekalongan Police, who have worked with considerable diligence,” he stated.

Imam disclosed that the alleged sexual abuse and assault occurred on Monday, 10 November 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. local time. The case originated from the victim’s mistake in disposing of leftover food purchased by the employer; the victim was subsequently sexually abused and assaulted by the doctor AI from the afternoon until late into the night.

“The accused first subjected the victim to assault until she lost consciousness. Thereafter, the victim was sexually abused. After some time, the act was repeated. Over the course of a single 24-hour period, this occurred a total of four times,” Imam explained.
