Do not harm public interest
Do not harm public interest
From Suara Karya
Most citizens of Indonesia are now well aware of their role in the general elections of 2004. It is no longer easy to lure the floating masses by offering money and cheap entertainment or hiring popular stars as campaigners, because urban and rural people have become more rational.
As a branch of society affiliated with the Consortium for Public Information Transparency (KUTIP), we wish to appeal that: * First, moves causing harm to public interests should be ended. Legislators should pay greater attention to public welfare instead of their own ends. * Second, executive officials should no longer increase the public burden by seeking unnecessary debts, and should avoid the sale of state assets beyond legal limits. * Third, the judicial institution should be proactively engaged in law enforcement, instead of standing aloof like an ivory tower packed with practices of corruption, collusion and nepotism.
