Do Not Forget History, Masoud Pezeshkian: Iran Cannot Be Defeated
President Masoud Pezeshkian of Iran has asserted that those who harbour delusions of destroying Iran are ignorant of Persian history. He has issued another defiant statement, declaring that enemies who believe they can destroy the nation are living under an illusion.
“Throughout the test of history, no force has ever succeeded in erasing this historic name,” the Iranian president stated in a post on X.
“Whoever harbours the illusion of destroying Iran knows nothing of history. Aggressors have come and gone; Iran has endured.”
Iran has also accused the European Union of hypocrisy and double standards following criticism from the bloc’s foreign policy chief regarding Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel.
Esmaeil Baqaei, spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, wrote on X that the European Union had shown indifference whilst Israel carried out genocide in Gaza and launched attacks in Lebanon and other countries.
“Yet now that Lebanon has shown resistance, suddenly you remember ‘international law’,” Baqaei said, adding that the European Union cannot claim to speak on behalf of European citizens “whose people loudly condemn Israel’s crimes”.
These comments were made in response to a statement by Kaja Kallas, the EU’s foreign policy chief, who stated that Hezbollah’s decision to attack Israel endangered the entire region.
Kallas also said Israel has the right to self-defence under international law, whilst warning that Israel’s “forceful response” has caused mass displacement and worsened an already fragile situation.
