Do Not Attempt Sexual Harassment on KRL, Face Blacklisting
KAI Commuter has finally apprehended the suspected perpetrator of harassment on the Commuter Line electric train on Friday 27 February 2026.
Previously, the victim of alleged sexual harassment on the KRL shared a video of their report to KAI Commuter staff via their personal TikTok account on Thursday 26 February 2026. The video subsequently went viral on social media and had been viewed more than five million times by Saturday 28 February 2026.
The victim explained the sequence of events of the alleged sexual harassment. The incident occurred whilst boarding the train from Manggarai Station heading towards Bogor Station. During the journey, the victim experienced sexual harassment disguised through movements of the bag carried by the perpetrator, such that the act was not immediately detected. Without showing any remorse, the perpetrator even asked the victim whether they were angry following the incident.
The official KAI121 account also responded to the video in the comments section, stating that KAI is committed to zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual harassment.
Following the victim’s report to staff on Sunday 22 February 2026, KAI Commuter immediately took action and traced the incident using their CCTV Analytic system. KAI Commuter’s Public Relations Manager, Leza Arlan, stated that after the report was received, the suspect was identified through the CCTV Analytic system search, matching the physical description of the suspected perpetrator provided by the victim.
“After that, we confirmed with the victim to verify that the suspect matched, so that they could subsequently be placed on the no-fly/blacklist,” said Leza in an official statement received by Kompas.com on Saturday 28 February 2026.
“The relevant officers immediately coordinated in the field to promptly apprehend the perpetrator and bring them to Bojonggede Station for initial examination,” he added.
Following examination and bringing in the victim, KAI Commuter officers subsequently accompanied the victim to report and hand over the perpetrator to Depok Police to proceed with legal proceedings.
Leza stated that KAI Commuter continues to be committed to always providing excellent service and a sense of security to all its users and remains on the side of the victim. He simultaneously conveyed his deepest condolences and apologies to the victim for the discomfort experienced.
“KAI Commuter urges all users to be mindful of their surroundings when using Commuter Line, to have the courage to act and speak up or report all forms of sexual harassment to staff, via the call centre 021-121, or through KAI Commuter’s official social media,” he concluded.
