DMI Emphasises Mosque Database to Enhance Social Value
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) has emphasised the importance of creating a database of mosques throughout Indonesia to support sustainable social initiatives and enhance the social value of mosque buildings.
“I hope that we will soon begin creating a database of mosques, which will include their location, name, and address. We have done this before, including taking photos of the ablution areas and minarets,” said Rudiantara, Deputy Chairman of the DMI’s Central Executive Board, during a press conference for the “#GiveTimeForGoodness Together with WIPOL” event at the Al Azhar Mosque in Jakarta on Thursday.
DMI has partnered with several corporations to enhance the value of mosques.
“While WIPOL focuses on cleanliness inside mosques, our motto at the DMI is to make mosques prosperous and to be made prosperous by mosques. Therefore, we must not stop at simply cleaning inside mosques. We must also clean the mosque’s surroundings, both inside and outside, so that everything can be clean. And, more importantly, during this month of Ramadan, we must cleanse our hearts,” said Rudiantara.
There are currently 60,000 mosques participating in the GMB Unilever program.
“This is a market for us, a market for Unilever as well as a market for DMI. However, as a corporation, Unilever focuses on financial capital. Meanwhile, DMI focuses on social capital. So, what is the added value that increases the social capital of the Indonesian Mosque Council?” said the former Minister of Communication and Information Technology.
