DMDI ready to take part in free nutritious meals programme and food security
Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) Indonesia has stated its readiness to contribute to supporting the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and food security initiatives run by the government of President Prabowo Subianto.
DMDI Indonesia Chairman Said Aldi Al Idrus, in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday, said a number of these government programmes align with his organisation’s efforts to provide benefits to the public.
“DMDI is full of programmes that align with President Prabowo’s programmes, such as the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), food security and other programmes. We are ready to take part and contribute to their success,” he said.
The statement was delivered by Said during the DMDI Indonesia 2026 National Leadership Meeting (Rapimnas) in Medan on Saturday (22/8).
According to him, the MBG programme is not only related to meeting nutritional needs, but also has the potential to boost the economy through the involvement of farmers, livestock breeders, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and other related sectors.
In supporting food security, DMDI, he said, can encourage the public to increase productivity through the development of the agricultural, livestock and community-based economic sectors.
“DMDI has a wide network. This is a strength that we must utilise to make a positive contribution to the nation and state,” he said.
Said also stressed the importance of DMDI strengthening unity and being present in the community, especially in helping residents affected by disasters and humanitarian tragedies.
“DMDI must strengthen unity and be present in the community, especially helping our brothers and sisters affected by disasters. Solidarity and concern must be realised in concrete action,” he said.
He said one of DMDI’s current concerns is helping communities affected by disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
According to Said, the humanitarian spirit is an important part of DMDI’s struggle to strengthen Malay and Islamic brotherhood, both in Indonesia and the world.
He expressed hope that the DMDI Indonesia 2026 Rapimnas would produce strategic steps to strengthen the organisation while increasing its contribution at national and international levels.
The DMDI network in various countries, he said, is expected to become increasingly solid in carrying out social, humanitarian, economic, educational, food security and religious programmes that benefit the public.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the DMDI Indonesia Board of Trustees Rahmat Shah appreciated the leadership and work of Said in developing the organisation in Indonesia.
“I very much hope that this DMDI Indonesia Rapimnas produces decisions that are beneficial to the public,” said Rahmat.
The DMDI Indonesia 2026 Rapimnas was also attended by DMDI representatives from Malaysia and Cambodia, DMDI leaders from a number of provinces in Indonesia, community and religious figures, as well as elements of the North Sumatra Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
