DMDI Indonesia Distributes 10,000 Aid Packages to Disaster-Affected Communities in Sumatra
Jakarta, VIVA – Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) Indonesia has delivered humanitarian aid to 10,000 people affected by flash floods and landslides in Aceh Tamiang, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
The assistance was distributed by DMDI Indonesia together with Artha Graha Peduli during a communal iftar gathering for Ramadan 1447 H. The aid was directed towards orphans, the underprivileged and disaster victims.
In addition to providing disaster relief, DMDI Indonesia and Artha Graha Peduli also cleaned places of worship, several schools and Quran learning centres.
“All the assistance and teams deployed have been aimed at helping residents and, most importantly, assisting the government in accelerating post-disaster recovery,” said DMDI Indonesia Chairman Said Aldi to reporters on Sunday, 22 February 2026.
Said Aldi explained that the communal iftar was part of a series of humanitarian and charitable activities carried out by DMDI Indonesia together with Artha Graha Peduli following the natural disasters that struck the three provinces.
“We hope that the communal iftar and the provision of aid to residents affected by flash floods and landslides can ease the burden on communities as they observe the Ramadan fast of 1447 H,” said Said Aldi.
Said Aldi also revealed that DMDI Indonesia and Artha Graha Peduli had been present at the disaster sites for more than two months, helping victims with dedication and sincerity.
“Together with residents, the team has made every effort to clean homes affected by flash floods and landslides, as well as places of worship and other public facilities,” he added.
Meanwhile, Artha Graha Peduli Field Coordinator Husin said the volunteer teams deployed were tasked with ensuring that all aid reached the hands of affected residents and matched their needs.
“We also aim to give encouragement to those who have experienced the disaster. With the presence of volunteer teams and the provision of cash assistance and other necessities, we hope to reduce the burden on flood-affected communities as they enter the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H,” said Husin.
