Jakarta (ANTARA) - Dunia Melayu Dunia Islam (DMDI) Indonesia, together with Artha Graha Peduli, has distributed Ramadan parcels to 10,000 orphans and disadvantaged individuals who were victims of flooding in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

In addition, the organisations have been cleaning places of worship and a number of schools in disaster-affected areas across Sumatra.

“All the aid and teams deployed have been helping residents. Most importantly, they have also been assisting the government in accelerating post-disaster recovery,” said DMDI Indonesia Chairman Said Aldi Al Idrus in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Sunday.

He added that they also organised communal iftar gatherings with disaster-affected residents to ease the burden on communities observing the Ramadan fast of 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE.

“We hope the communal iftar and the provision of aid to residents affected by flash floods and landslides can ease the burden on communities during the fasting period,” he said.

On a separate occasion, Interior Minister and Chairman of the Task Force for Accelerating Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, said President Prabowo Subianto had mobilised all resources to accelerate recovery efforts.

Nevertheless, he acknowledged that several challenges remain in the post-disaster recovery process in Sumatra, particularly in Aceh.
