DLH: Plastic Price Increase a Momentum to Use Environmentally Friendly Bags

Not only more economical or efficient due to their continuously rising prices, the use of single-use plastic bags can become waste that damages the environment. Tangerang (ANTARA) - The Head of the Tangerang City Environmental Agency (DLH), Banten, Wawan Fauzi, stated that the current trend of increasing plastic prices presents an opportunity for the public to use environmentally friendly shopping bags. “Not only more economical or efficient because their prices continue to climb, the use of single-use plastic bags can become environmentally damaging waste,” said DLH Head Wawan Fauzi in Tangerang on Tuesday. Wawan also stated that this call aligns with the Tangerang City Government policy on restricting the use of plastic shopping bags in shopping centres, supermarkets, restaurants, and markets, as stipulated in Tangerang Mayor Regulation No. 111 of 2022. There are many benefits to using environmentally friendly shopping bags, namely greater efficiency, as they can be used hundreds of times compared to single-use plastic bags. “Environmentally friendly shopping bags can also be used for various activities, from shopping for daily necessities at the market to carrying office stationery (ATK) while working,” said Tangerang City DLH Head Wawan Fauzi.
