Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Environmental Agency (DLH) will permanently close illegal waste disposal sites (TPS) at several locations in the capital and accelerate waste collection. “After the emptying process is complete, the illegal TPS will be permanently closed by installing iron fences and strengthening surveillance through joint posts involving the Village Consultative Agency (LMK), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and police elements,” said Head of DLH Jakarta Asep Kuswanto in Jakarta on Thursday. One of the actions taken by DLH Jakarta is the acceleration of waste collection at TPS Kali Anyar. The waste emptying process at TPS Kali Anyar has been completed, and the site is now clean. Meanwhile, TPS Rawadas, an illegal TPS, has been permanently closed through collaboration with the sub-district, village, and Satpol PP in the Pondok Kopi Public Cemetery area. As of Wednesday (1/4) night, the location was completely free of waste. Handling is also underway at TPS Kencana, located under the Wiyoto Wiyono Toll Road (Tanjung Priok Toll). Previously, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo stated that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta will no longer permit temporary waste disposal sites (TPS) and will reorganise the capital’s waste disposal flow. This decision was made by Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo following a viral video showing a DLH Jakarta waste transport vehicle allegedly dumping its load into the Pesanggrahan River in the Tanah Kusir Public Cemetery area, South Jakarta. “Temporary storage is not permitted, not allowed. Therefore, from the collection points, we will reorganise whether the waste will be taken to Bantargebang or to Rorotan,” Pramono explained.
