Jakarta - A number of news stories concerning Jakarta occurred on Monday, June 1st, ranging from the Jakarta Provincial Government’s exemption of motor vehicle tax penalties to a fire that destroyed residential properties in the Pasar Jiung area, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Jakarta Provincial Government Exempts Motor Vehicle Tax Penalties

The Jakarta Provincial Government has waived administrative sanctions resulting from late payment or deposit of outstanding taxes for Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Transfer Tax (BBNKB) for 2026, effective from June 1 through August 31.

This policy was issued to commemorate the 499th anniversary of Jakarta and to mark the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence, whilst also providing convenience to the public in fulfilling their vehicle tax obligations.

“The Jakarta Provincial Government is providing the public with an opportunity to settle their vehicle tax obligations more easily through the waiver of administrative sanctions,” said Lusiana Herawati, Head of the Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), on Monday in Jakarta.

Jakarta Provincial Government Temporarily Closes Lenteng Agung Road

The Jakarta Provincial Government has temporarily closed Jalan Lenteng Agung heading south towards Depok to support underground drainage repair work by the Jakarta Water Resources Service (SDA).

Budi Awaluddin, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office, expressed apologies to the public for traffic disruptions during the repairs.

“We apologise for the temporary closure of Jalan Lenteng Agung heading south towards Depok beginning today,” said Budi on Monday in Jakarta.

Transportation Office Apologises for Rasuna Said Congestion

The Jakarta Transportation Office has apologised to the public for traffic disruptions on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, on Sunday, May 31st evening.

A video of severe traffic congestion in the area had previously gone viral on social media during a music performance event attended by approximately 10,000 people.

“We apologise to the public affected by the congestion and traffic disruptions in the HR Rasuna Said area,” said Budi Awaluddin, Head of the Jakarta Transportation Office, on Monday in Jakarta.

Fire Destroys Residential House in Central Jakarta, 33 Fire Department Units Deployed

A fire broke out at a residential property on Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, RT 02/RW 05, Kelurahan Kebon Kosong, Kecamatan Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on Monday evening.

Bayu Meghantara, Head of the Jakarta Emergency Management and Disaster Prevention Agency, reported that 33 fire department vehicles and 100 personnel had been deployed to the scene.

“The fire report was received by officers at 20:55 Western Indonesia Time,” he said.

Management: 166,955 Visitors to Ancol During Extended Holiday Period

PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol management recorded that the family tourism destination in North Jakarta received 166,955 visitors between May 27 and May 31, 2026.

“Alhamdulillah, this figure exceeded our target of 150,000 visitors over six days, from May 27 to June 1, 2026. Today also remains part of the extended holiday period,” said Daniel Windriatmoko, Corporate Communications Manager at PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, on Monday in Jakarta.
