Jakarta (ANTARA) - A series of important and interesting events coloured Jakarta on Friday (3/7), ranging from the inauguration of 17 members of the Jakarta City Transport Council (DTKJ) to a fire that struck a rented house on Jalan Gaga Utama, RT 10/RW 9, Semanan, Kalideres, West Jakarta.

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo has asked members of the Jakarta City Transport Council (DTKJ) to improve transport management in the capital. “Hopefully, the task that you, ladies and gentlemen, are shouldering will make Jakarta better in terms of its transport management,” Pramono said during the inauguration of 17 DTKJ members at the Balairung, City Hall, Jakarta, on Friday.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is keen to develop exhibitions about waste in parks and schools across the capital as an educational tool for residents. “This is interesting to me. I can develop (waste exhibitions) in playgrounds, such as Taman Bendera Pusaka, Tebet Eco Park, or in schools, for example as semi-games, and the education is engaging,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency Dudi Gardesi Asikin in Jakarta on Friday.

Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo welcomed the launch of the Udara Jakarta website by the DKI Jakarta Environment Agency, which can predict the capital’s air quality up to three days in advance. “I welcome the early warning system on the Udara Jakarta website, which previously never existed and only showed the current day, but now prepares a three-day prediction ahead,” Pramono stated at City Hall, Jakarta, on Friday.

Jakarta has secured a record from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the simultaneous production of eco enzyme with the highest number of participants, as part of the Jakarta Eco Future Festival (JEFF) 2024. The Governor said the award proves the strong collaboration between the government, communities, businesses, and the public in supporting waste management.

A fire broke out at a rented house on Jalan Gaga Utama, RT 10/RW 9, Semanan, Kalideres, West Jakarta, on Friday afternoon. Head of the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Sub-agency, Syaiful Kahfi, said the initial information about the fire was received from a resident named Zaki who reported it to the local fire station.
