DKI Transportation Agency's Clarification on Traffic Lights in Tebet
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency has affirmed that the traffic light pole/APILL on Jalan Soepomo in Tebet, South Jakarta, suspected to be missing due to the impact of sidewalk revitalisation work, is not actually lost. “The pole was not lost; it was only affected by the sidewalk revitalisation work,” said the Head of the Traffic Control System Management Unit (UP SPLL) of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, Edy Sufa’at, when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday. Edy stated that the DKI Transportation Agency has coordinated with the Road Infrastructure Agency and the relevant third parties regarding the restoration of the pole. Currently, his team is preparing for the reinstallation of the traffic light pole to ensure the safety and comfort of road users. “The current process involves preparing materials and equipment for the subsequent repairs and reinstallation by the Road Infrastructure Agency’s vendor,” he said. At present, the road intersection control remains active, and DKI Transportation Agency personnel have mitigated the issue by adding secondary light units. “The addition of these secondary lights ensures that traffic light information for road users travelling from north to south remains visible,” he explained. Meanwhile, the Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Agency, Bernad Oktavianus Pasaribu, stated that personnel are currently repairing the lights on site. “The lights are being repaired. The UP SPLL is following up,” said Bernard. The issue went viral on Instagram @tebet_info, reporting that the traffic lights on Jalan Soepomo had disappeared after the sidewalk renovation. Moreover, the lights had previously been reported as damaged and not functioning at all. In the comments on that post, the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency expressed apologies for the inconvenience. The received report will be forwarded to the relevant personnel for follow-up.
