Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has urged holiday returnees heading back to Jakarta to continue using official public transport services, especially during the peak return flow expected to occur from evening until early morning today. “First, we urge residents returning today who are likely to arrive at Jakarta’s terminals from evening until dawn tomorrow to use the available official public transport services,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, while inspecting preparations for the return flow at Kampung Rambutan Terminal in East Jakarta on Tuesday. This appeal comes in response to the potential increase in arrivals at various terminals in the capital. Syafrin emphasised that passenger safety and security must be the top priority during the journey back to Jakarta. The public is also reminded not to be tempted by unofficial transport services. According to him, unclear services carry high risks, including potential criminal acts that could harm passengers. In addition, Syafrin urged returnees travelling with family to look out for and supervise each other, especially upon arrival at crowded terminals from evening to early morning. Vigilance within groups is an important step to prevent unwanted incidents during the return journey. Syafrin assured that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is continuously working to ensure the smooth and secure flow of returnees, including by preparing various official public transport services at major terminals. With the increased mobility of the public after the long holiday, returnees are expected to comply with this appeal for a safe, comfortable, and secure journey until they arrive back in Jakarta. The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has ensured the readiness of public transport services in the form of night-time transport to face the peak Eid 2026 return flow, predicted to occur today. “Night-time transport in Jakarta has been prepared. Overall, for the 14 Transjakarta corridors, operations are 24 hours, and the number of operational buses has been increased,” he said. Not only the bus rapid transit services, but passenger transport services have also been optimised. Several Mikrotrans units have been mobilised to operate for 24 hours, particularly in terminal areas experiencing increased passenger arrivals. “Not only the 14 corridors, but also Mikrotrans. Several Mikrotrans, such as those at Kampung Rambutan, are also operational 24 hours,” Syafrin stated. Meanwhile, for the return flow from out of town to Jakarta, Dishub has also prepared connecting transport services. Passengers arriving at terminals can directly access Transjakarta or Mikrotrans services, whose operations have been adjusted to 24 hours.
