DKI to Launch 499th Jakarta Anniversary Proclamation on Rasuna Said

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI Jakarta) will hold the proclamation for the 499th Anniversary of Jakarta City towards five centuries on 9–10 May 2026 in the H.R. Rasuna Said corridor, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the location was chosen because the Rasuna Said corridor has been deemed a new icon of Jakarta’s transformation as a global city.

“This marks Rasuna Said, which we will also prepare to become a Car Free Day area like Sudirman-Thamrin, so that Jakarta residents have many options, including at the right time I will announce changes to the Car Free Day hours and hopefully Jakarta residents will become even healthier,” he said in Jakarta on Thursday.

He conveyed that the area was selected as the centre of activities because the Rasuna Said corridor is the lifeblood of Jakarta with very high activity.

“This area is not only a centre for diplomacy and business, but also a facility for sports, lifestyle, and culture. Therefore, the arrangement of this area becomes the main focus of the 499th Jakarta City Anniversary proclamation,” he said.

Through the integration of government, diplomatic, and private elements, the Rasuna Said corridor becomes evidence of Jakarta’s commitment to realising a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable city.

“We can imagine the liveliness of this event with the support of 30 embassy buildings, 15 ministry and agency offices, as well as more than 200 private office buildings, shopping centres, hospitals, and vertical housing,” he said.

The 499th Anniversary proclamation activities are designed with a concept that combines cultural elements and modern urban life.

“The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared various creative concepts that can be enjoyed by all communities. We are presenting sports activities, Betawi arts, to a grand peak event,” said Suharini.

For information, the 499th Jakarta City Anniversary proclamation will feature various activities, including “Sehat Bugar Rasuna” in the form of morning aerobics together with the DKI Jakarta Youth and Sports Office.

In addition, there is also the “Dengar Dekat Betawi” activity featuring Betawi lenong entertainment as a symbol of reflection towards Jakarta’s 499th Anniversary.

Meanwhile, the peak event titled “Spekta Jakarta” will feature a dialogue session with the governor and deputy governor and be enlivened by several national musicians.
