DKI to Form Special Team to Oversee School Repairs
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Jakarta Provincial Government will form a special technical team to oversee the construction and repair of schools in the capital, including SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi, which has been prioritised for immediate rebuilding this year.
“Tomorrow there will be another meeting to appoint the technical team, who will supervise, and so on. Because I do not want this construction, which has not been easy to secure, to then be carried out half-heartedly,” said Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung in South Jakarta on Friday.
Pramono explained that the task of the investigation and inventory team is to review schools in need of repair. The investigation team will then record the causes of the buildings’ deterioration, for example structural frames that were not properly prepared beforehand.
Once rebuilt, the school is expected to stand firm so that pupils can learn safely and comfortably.
He wants schools in the capital to be built by professionals in the field, because the construction process at SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi is by no means easy.
To that end, the rebuilding process will also draw staff (BKO) from the Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Agency (Citata) and the Highways Agency, coordinated by the Assistant for Development.
“In the past, all construction like this was under the Education Agency. Now we are seconding staff to supervise because not everyone at the Education Agency has the expertise to build and so on. There will be companions from Citata and Bina Marga,” Pramono explained.
As for the construction stages, he said, SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 Pagi will first be written off. Only after that will the school be rebuilt with a budget of Rp48.1 billion.
The budget comes from the Building Floor Coefficient (KLB) and the Amended Regional Budget (APBD-P).
“The first step taken is the write-off of this damaged building. So it does not become an audit finding, its books are all written off first. It must start by September at the latest. So in August there will be write-off preparations and the appointment of the implementing contractor, and by September construction must already begin on this site,” Pramono elaborated.
