DKI to evaluate new fares for Transjabodetabek Blok M-Soetta route
Jakarta — Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo announced that the provincial government will evaluate the fares for the new Transjabodetabek SH2 route to Blok M-Soekarno Hatta Airport (Soetta) after three months of operation.
Currently, the Transjabodetabek fares for this route remain the same as other routes: IDR2,000 from 05:00 to 07:00 WIB and IDR3,500 from 07:00 WIB onwards.
“The Jakarta Provincial Government has decided that for three months, particularly in anticipation of Eid al-Fitr, we will maintain the fare at IDR3,500 for this three-month period. After that, we will conduct an evaluation,” Pramono said at Blok M in South Jakarta on Thursday.
This decision was made because Pramono acknowledged that the subsidy burden borne by the Jakarta Government for this route is substantial.
The Jakarta Government will discuss future fares for this route in the range of IDR10,000 or IDR15,000. However, Pramono will only make a final decision after the route has operated for three months.
“The reasons are, first, because this is a long route, the buses are new and specifically dedicated to this purpose, so operational costs need to be incurred. Additionally, at Terminals 1, 2, and 3, bus parking is not free—there are costs that must be covered,” Pramono explained.
Nevertheless, Pramono was confident that the route would remain attractive to the public, particularly for those wishing to travel through Soekarno Hatta Airport.
“Compared to Damri, which costs IDR80,000, or taxis at IDR200,000 or more, or Gocar, which averages above IDR125,000, I am confident this will become a popular alternative for people using Transjabodetabek,” he said.
