DKI targets completion of waste management at Rawadas TPS within two days
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government targets the completion of waste management at the Rawadas Temporary Disposal Site (TPS) in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, within the next two days.
“Regarding TPS Rawadas, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency has promised that the handling will be completed within the next two days through the optimisation of periodic transportation and integrated coordination with the Mayor of East Jakarta Administrative City,” said Special Staff to the Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta for Public Communication, Chico Hakim, in Jakarta on Thursday.
At present, he said, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is making maximum efforts to resolve the waste issue in the capital.
The DKI Provincial Government is also finalising regulations on the sorting of household waste and business actors into four categories: organic (compost), inorganic (recyclable: plastic, paper, metal), hazardous B3 waste, and residue.
In addition, infrastructure acceleration is being carried out, including the optimisation of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) in Rorotan as well as plans to build three Waste-to-Energy Power Plants (PLTSa) in Bantargebang, Rorotan/Tunjungan, and Sunter.
It is hoped that these efforts can improve more independent waste processing and reduce dependence on landfilling.
“We are deploying all maximum efforts to accelerate the handling of waste accumulation and prevent similar problems from recurring, including at TPS Rawadas and other points,” Chico explained.
The DKI Provincial Government, he added, will continue to monitor developments in the field and enhance coordination with the central government as well as all relevant parties for better waste management in the future.
