Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is strengthening regulations to create a safe, equitable, and supportive work environment for women and other vulnerable groups, one of which is through revisions to the regional regulation (Perda) on the protection of women and children.

“We have a governor’s regulation on gender mainstreaming, then the Perda on the protection of women and children, which is currently in the process of revision into two draft regional regulations on the implementation of women’s protection and child-friendly districts/cities,” said the Head of the Women’s Empowerment Division of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Women’s Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Agency (PPAPP), Evi Lisa, in a podcast in Jakarta on Wednesday.

These regulations also aim to prevent violence, particularly against women and children in the capital. The revision of the rules has entered discussions at the Regional Regulation Formation Agency (Bapemperda) in 2026.

Evi Lisa acknowledged that the issue of sexual harassment in the workplace still haunts working women. In fact, there are still women who feel uncomfortable reporting harassment incidents.

“Because they fear being ostracised in the work environment, or even fear losing their jobs,” she said.

This service synergises with related agencies such as the health agency, social agency, Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) through Jakarta Siaga 112, Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), and other agencies.

“That is our effort to provide a quick response regarding women and children,” said Evi Lisa.

Furthermore, the DKI Provincial Government through the PPAPP Agency is also encouraging all regional apparatus to implement gender-responsive services by training representatives from regional apparatus to educate in their respective regional apparatus so that their programmes and activities are more gender-responsive.

“We also carry out public service standards that consider the specific needs of women, children, and other vulnerable groups,” she said.

In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is also strengthening public service officers through training for apparatus, including civil servants, service personnel, and field officers on standardisation of victim-based case handling.

“Good cross-sector collaboration involves law enforcement apparatus among regional apparatus, the business world or business entities, educational institutions, community institutions, and even with the mass media,” said Evi Lisa.
