JAKARTA - The head of DKI Jakarta’s Satpol PP, Satriadi Gunawan, has proposed that community protection officers (linmas) or hansip receive social security in the form of BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. He made this statement during a meeting with Commission A of the DKI Jakarta DPRD at the DPRD building on Thursday (23/4/2026). “We are currently studying and examining this so that they can also be facilitated. At minimum, sir, if they receive BPJS Kesehatan and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, that would be extraordinary. Because they also safeguard our neighbourhood security,” Satriadi said on Thursday. Therefore, according to him, providing BPJS is important so that they receive protection while working. “Yesterday we also provided compensation from the provincial government to the relevant party. Well, this might be the potential that we will enhance,” he said. According to Satriadi, hansip play an important role in maintaining neighbourhood security, especially at the RT and RW levels. However, until now, many of them work on a voluntary basis and have not received adequate protection. Satriadi assessed that the potential of hansip needs to be utilised and integrated into the official system through the community protection unit (Satlinmas). Furthermore, he said that Satpol PP has so far primarily carried out functions of general order and public tranquillity (trantibum). In the future, the community protection function through linmas will be strengthened to achieve better balance. “So far, transtubum has been more dominant. Whereas the role of Linmas is important so that the presence of Satpol PP is felt directly in the community,” he explained.
