DKI Satpol PP Apologises for Red-Plated Vehicle Parked on Pavement
The head of the DKI Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit, Satriadi Gunawan, has apologised following a video that showed their officers allowing a red-plated vehicle to be parked on the pavement in front of the Satpol PP DKI Jakarta office. “We extend our apologies for the inconvenience experienced by the public regarding the operational patrol vehicle parked on the pavement,” Satriadi stated in Jakarta on Thursday, 23 April 2026. The video, uploaded by the Instagram account @ijoeel, depicts a black Isuzu Panther pickup truck parked on the pavement area, which should be reserved for pedestrians. The video’s recorder, Ijoel, approached the Satpol PP officers guarding the front gate to inquire about the vehicle’s owner. Ijoel initially intended to deflate the vehicle’s tyres but reconsidered upon seeing the officers’ confused response. Shortly afterwards, one officer called a colleague from inside the office. The arriving officer explained that the internal parking area was full due to an ongoing meeting, forcing the vehicle to be parked outside. Nevertheless, Ijoel deemed this explanation insufficient to justify the misuse of the pavement. Satriadi assured that the involved members have been summoned and sanctioned. He emphasised that the incident will serve as material for evaluation to ensure it does not happen again in the future. According to him, public trust should be built by setting a good example, not merely through exhortations. “The concerned members have been called by their superiors, given guidance, and issued warning letters as a form of evaluation,” Satriadi said.
