DKI Roundup: Electric Vehicle Tax Proposed, Transjakarta Removes Passenger

A member of the Jakarta Legislative Council’s (DPRD) Regional Regulation Formation Body (Bapemperda), Yusuf, has proposed the imposition of a tax on electric vehicles in the capital, arguing it could boost the region’s Original Local Government Revenue (PAD) by approximately Rp3 trillion per year. ‘We are proposing in the revision of Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2024 on regional taxes and levies that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government begin implementing the Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and the Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB) for electric cars,’ Yusuf stated in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Traders at Taman Puring market in South Jakarta are urging the DKI Provincial Government to fulfil its promise to revitalise the market, one year after it was ravaged by fire in July 2025. The traders’ coordinator, Asmun, told reporters that they are still waiting and hoping the governor will keep his word to rebuild the market to its original state.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to connect two pedestrian bridges (JPO) that are situated close to each other on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said in South Jakarta. Governor Pramono Anung confirmed the decision would be made soon to link the two bridges.

PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) has explained that a passenger was removed from a bus at the Kampung Melayu stop in East Jakarta on Monday following reports of a very strong odour. Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department, Ayu Wardhani, offered sincere apologies for the discomfort caused to the passenger, explaining that officers acted based on reports from other passengers at the scene regarding the pungent smell.
