DKI Provincial Government to Turn Off Lights for One Hour on Earth Day, Here is the List of Locations

JAKARTA – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will turn off lights for one hour on Saturday (25/4/2026), from 20:30 to 21:30 WIB, to commemorate Earth Day.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Communications, Informatics, and Statistics Agency (Diskominfotik), Budi Awaludin, stated that this activity serves as an invitation to the public to save energy while increasing environmental awareness.

The blackout will be carried out in five regions of Jakarta, targeting government buildings, DKI Jakarta provincial offices, and several private buildings such as shopping centres, hotels, restaurants, and apartments.

However, essential services such as hospitals, community health centres, and clinics are exempt to ensure they continue operating normally.

In addition to buildings, the light switch-off will also occur on several main roads in Jakarta, including:

Several Jakarta city icons will also participate in the temporary blackout, such as the National Monument (Monas), Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI), the DKI Jakarta City Hall Building, the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue, the Youth Statue, as well as the Heroes Statue and General Sudirman.

“The economic savings in 2025 amount to Rp 636,655,763,” Budi revealed.
