DKI Provincial Government to Soon Clamp Down on Illegal Parking in Several Areas

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will soon clamp down on illegal parking areas at several points in the capital, from the vicinity of the Grand Indonesia shopping centre to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). “So, as is happening in Central Jakarta, for example behind Grand Indonesia, which has not been tidied up for almost 20 years, we are now tidying it up, including at RSCM, we are also tidying that,” said DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo in Central Jakarta on Friday. In addition, he said he has asked his subordinates to resolve the illegal parking issue in other areas, one of which is Rasuna Said. Meanwhile, regarding the viral illegal parking in the Lebak Bulus MRT station area in South Jakarta, Pramono has instructed the local mayor to immediately clamp down on illegal parking in that area. Previously, a video went viral on social media showing a road section near Lebak Bulus MRT station in South Jakarta filled with two-wheeled vehicles parked until they blocked half the road. Based on the video uploaded by @jabodetabek.terkini on Instagram, a resident complained that half the road had turned into an illegal parking area, disrupting traffic. The condition was complained about by local residents because it caused congestion, especially during rush hour, and endangered pedestrians who were forced to walk on the road section.
