DKI Provincial Government to Hold Car Free Night on Takbiran Eve, Here is the Schedule

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold a Car Free Night in the area of Jalan MH Thamrin to Jalan Sudirman on the Takbiran eve of Eid al-Fitr 2026. The event will take place from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM WIB on Friday (20/3). DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the event is an effort to bring a different atmosphere to the Takbiran night for the capital’s residents. “We will hold an event called Car Free Night,” said Pramono. The DKI Provincial Government has prepared various activities to liven up the event centred around the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) area and its surroundings. Some of the events include rampak bedug, the 1,000 Bedug Festival, a torch parade participated in by around 5,000 people, as well as visual performances such as dancing fountain, lighting show, laser show, and flying LED show. In addition to entertainment, the event will feature a tausiyah by Ustadz Akri and religious music performances by Hadad Alwi. Pramono mentioned that the activity is also part of the “Mudik ke Jakarta” concept, which invites the public to celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the capital with a more open and inclusive atmosphere. Traffic Engineering and Vehicle Restrictions To support the smooth running of the event, the DKI Provincial Government will implement traffic engineering with restrictions on private vehicles on several roads around the location. Pramono emphasised that public access remains available through public transportation, especially Transjakarta services. “Private vehicles are not permitted to enter, but Transjakarta will continue to operate so that the public can still engage in activities and enjoy the event,” he said. The DKI Provincial Government urges the public who wish to attend the event to use public transport and maintain order during the activities.
