DKI Provincial Government to Draft Derivative Regulations for PP Tunas to Protect Children in Digital Spaces
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will draft derivative regulations at the local level following the issuance of Government Regulation (PP) Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas). DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung affirmed that the preparation of these regulations will be carried out jointly with the DKI Jakarta DPRD to ensure optimal implementation in the capital region. “We will soon create derivative regulations for the DKI Jakarta Government, and we will work together with the DKI Jakarta DPRD to formulate them,” Pramono stated at the DKI Jakarta DPRD Building in Central Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026). He assessed that the regulation is crucial for protecting children from various potential risks in the digital space. “Jakarta will provide full support for the regulations issued by the central government,” Pramono remarked. Pramono explained that children, who lack the maturity to filter information, are highly vulnerable to content unsuitable for their age. If not regulated, this could have negative impacts on their development. “No matter what, the dangers from threats arising because children are not yet mature and they consume something inappropriate, not yet the right time, will certainly have a negative impact,” he said. In the initial implementation phase, the government will restrict children’s access to several high-risk digital platforms, namely YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, Instagram, X, Bigo Live, and Roblox.
