DKI Provincial Government Tightens Vigilance Ahead of Eid, Pramono Urges Residents to Maintain Neighbourhood Security
Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung has instructed all regional apparatus and the public to heighten vigilance during the homecoming flow and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 M. This instruction is followed up through Circular Letter of the Regional Secretary Number 14/SE/2026.
Governor’s Special Staff, Chico Hakim, emphasised that the directive must be implemented seriously on the ground to ensure Jakarta remains safe and conducive during the Eid period.
“In line with Governor Pramono Anung’s instructions, we stress the importance of carrying out the Regional Secretary’s Circular earnestly. Eid al-Fitr is a sacred moment that must be celebrated in an atmosphere of safety, peace, and togetherness. Let us all work together to keep Jakarta conducive,” said Chico in his statement on Thursday (19/3).
The DKI Provincial Government encourages active community involvement through neighbourhood leaders, religious figures, and youth to anticipate potential disruptions such as brawls, motorcycle gangs, and the use of firecrackers.
In addition, the neighbourhood security system (siskamling) is requested to be reactivated in all neighbourhood units (RT/RW). This step is deemed crucial to prevent criminal acts, especially when many homes are left empty due to homecoming.
Residents who will leave their homes are also advised to ensure their residences are secure, from locking doors and windows, turning off electricity and unused electronic devices, to ensuring stoves and gas installations are safe. Pet care during the homecoming period is also a concern.
On the other hand, the DKI Provincial Government is also preparing free vehicle parking facilities at city hall offices, regents, sub-district heads, and village heads from 18 to 24 March 2026.
This policy is expected to minimise the risk of vehicle theft while residents leave Jakarta.
In addition, new arrivals are required to report to the RT/RW administrators within 1x24 hours after arriving in Jakarta.
Chico emphasised that collaboration between the government and the community is key to maintaining the stability of the capital during the Eid momentum.
“We invite all Jakarta residents to actively participate. With collective awareness, we can realise an Eid al-Fitr full of wisdom, safety, and order,” he concluded.
