JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has been sued civilly by an individual named Sulaeman Effendi at the Central Jakarta District Court regarding a claim to ownership of land in the Tanah Abang demolition area, Central Jakarta.

In the lawsuit, Sulaeman has engaged the advocacy team from Gerakan Rakyat Indonesia Bersatu (GRIB) Jaya to fight for ownership rights over the land.

The defendants include PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the Minister of Transportation, the National Land Agency (BPN), the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, and the Metro Jaya Police.

“The first thing is that being sued by the DKI Government is nothing unusual,” said Pramono to the media when met at the Jakarta East Mayor’s Government Complex on Sunday (12/4/2026).

Pramono conveyed that the DKI Provincial Government would not take the issue too seriously.

“So it will be handled in a routine manner,” he added.

For information, Wilson Colling, Chairman of the GRIB Jaya Legal Team, explained that the lawsuit was filed due to differing ownership claims between his client and the government.

“There (KAI) they also say it’s theirs, we also say it’s ours. Therefore, we registered it with the court so that the judiciary can determine who it belongs to,” said Wilson in the Tanah Abang demolition area on Friday (10/4/2026).

He added that the filed lawsuit is for unlawful acts.

“On Wednesday, I already registered the lawsuit for unlawful acts. The defendants are PT Kereta Api, the Minister of Transportation, BPN, (Pemprov) DKI Jakarta, the Governor, because he issued the decision letter (on land ownership),” he continued.

Based on the report, on 10 March 2026, Sulaeman received a second summons as a witness to be examined on 16 March 2026 regarding alleged violations of Articles 167, 385, 257, and 502 of the Criminal Code.

The disputed land spans approximately 34,690 square metres and is located in the former demolition area covering Kebon Kacang and Kebon Melati sub-districts, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta.

Wilson stated that his client has a basis for ownership in the form of Eigendom Verponding Number 946 from 1923 in the name of Iljas Radjo Mentari.
