DKI Provincial Government Provides Free Vehicle Storage During Eid al-Fitr Homecoming
JAKARTA - Vehicles often cause concern when left unattended at home for extended periods during the Eid homecoming to hometowns. However, Jakarta residents can now entrust their vehicles free of charge and securely at government facilities. DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has assured that those planning to return to their hometowns can deposit their vehicles at government offices across Jakarta, including ward, sub-district, and mayoral offices, without any fees. This policy is designed to provide peace of mind for residents leaving their vehicles during the homecoming. “Naturally, the DKI Jakarta Government will permit homecomers to deposit their vehicles, especially motorcycles, at offices owned by the DKI Jakarta Government,” he stated, as quoted from an official release on Thursday (19/3/2026). For information, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) has issued Circular Letter No. 14/SE/2026 regarding appeals to maintain security, peace, and public order during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H celebrations. This appeal is based on a circular signed by the Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta Province on 13 March 2026. Pemprov DKI emphasises the importance of collaboration among all societal elements to maintain a conducive atmosphere during the Eid homecoming period. In this circular, mayors, sub-district heads, and ward heads are requested to provide parking spaces at their respective offices as vehicle storage locations. This effort is taken to minimise the risk of vehicle loss when left at homes without supervision. “Provide parking spaces at Mayor/Regent Offices, Sub-district Head Offices, and Ward Head Offices as vehicle storage locations during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 M homecoming flow from 18 March to 24 March 2026 without charge,” states the circular.
