DKI Provincial Government Provides Free Public Transport on Eid al-Fitr
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will provide free public transport services across all government-operated transit systems during Eid al-Fitr 2026. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung announced this policy is intended to facilitate Jakarta residents who are not returning to their hometowns to enjoy the atmosphere of the capital instead of travelling elsewhere.
“During Eid al-Fitr, we will make all Jakarta transport services free. To attract people—rather than dealing with traffic congestion or shopping abroad and so forth—it is better to remain in Jakarta,” said Pramono at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area, Jakarta, on Friday, 27 February 2026, according to a written statement.
Pramono stated that the free transport policy during Eid al-Fitr will also apply to visitors from outside Jakarta who are holidaying in the capital. “I still wish citizens from anywhere to come to Jakarta. Those who are not returning home can also benefit from Jakarta,” he said.
The DKI Provincial Government will also organise various attractive activities during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, including discount festivals at shopping centres.
He hopes that with this free transport service, Jakarta’s economy will continue to thrive and residents can visit relatives more easily.
Additionally, throughout Ramadan and during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations, the DKI Provincial Government is preparing a series of activities for the Jakarta Ramadan Festival featuring diverse cultural attractions, arts, cuisine, entertainment, and discount markets.
The agenda includes the Jakarta Light Festival, Harmoni Ramadan Jakarta, Rebana Ramadan Colossal, Mudik ke Jakarta (Returning Home to Jakarta), and Jakarta Festive Wonder with discount festivals offering discounts of up to 70 percent at shopping centres.
