The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has promised transparency in investigating allegations of illegal parking in the Blok M area, South Jakarta, which was sealed by the DKI Jakarta DPRD. The provincial government is still probing permits and compliance with parking tax payments.

“Regarding the suspected illegal parking, I said suspected because this is all still in the Pansus process. So we fully support the efforts carried out by the DPRD Pansus,” said Deputy Coordinator of the Governor’s Special Staff, Yustinus Prastowo, at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).

He stated that the provincial government has conducted internal coordination following the emergence of the parking issue. Currently, the Transportation Department together with the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) are further checking permits and the parking tax collection mechanism.

“So what we are doing, yesterday we immediately coordinated internally. Now the Transportation Department and Bapenda are conducting in-depth investigations because this involves aspects of permitting and aspects of parking tax collection,” he said.

He stated that the provincial government does not tolerate illegal parking activities. He added that the government is also striving to prepare safe parking services.

“So this is what we are delving into, whether it is confirmed there is no permit or it is in process, that is what we are delving into together. Later we will provide updates and ensure everything is transparent,” he said.

He explained that parking management in Jakarta has various schemes. These include, he said, from private entities to collaborations with the government.

“Parking management is varied; there is private parking but they collect parking tax which is deposited to Bapenda, there is also parking organised by the Transportation Department, especially on-street, then collaborated with other parties,” he clarified.

Previously, the Parking Special Committee conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) in the Blok M area, South Jakarta. The committee directly checked illegal parking practices deemed disturbing and detrimental to the public.

Chairman of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Parking Special Committee, Ahmad Lukman Jupiter, directly led the inspection at the site. The inspection was carried out in cooperation with the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department, Bapenda DKI Jakarta, and Metro Jaya Police.

The sealed location is in the Blok M Square area, specifically on Jalan Melawai 5, South Jakarta. The site is managed by the Best Parking operator.

“Today we are carrying out our oversight function as a concrete step to ensure that illegal parking violating regulations is sealed. We want to protect public rights and original local revenue finances, and also protect against potential losses to original local revenue,” said Jupiter at Blok M Square on Monday (11/5).
