DKI Provincial Government Prepares Container Truck Parking Area to Prevent Congestion in Tanjung Priok
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is preparing land for container truck parking to prevent congestion in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta. The prepared land spans 5 hectares.
“We are providing Pelindo with approximately 5 hectares in Terminal Tanah Merdeka for the parking area,” said Pramono at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
He stated that the land can accommodate 200 container trucks, which previously often piled up around the port due to increased loading and unloading activities after Eid. Last year, the situation triggered severe congestion that snaked to various points in North Jakarta.
Pramono recalled that the post-Eid congestion in 2025 served as an important lesson for the DKI Provincial Government. According to him, the surge in port activities was not matched by the availability of container truck parking areas.
“There was an increase in port activities while there was no parking space, leading to horrific congestion like last year,” he explained.
He said that the DKI Provincial Government and Pelindo had coordinated well in advance before this year’s Eid. He hopes that port loading and unloading activities can run smoothly.
“We are providing it to Pelindo for free because if congestion occurs like last year, the costs would be extremely high,” he stated.
