DKI Provincial Government Monitors New Arrivals After Eid, Beware of This
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has begun monitoring new arrivals after Eid al-Fitr 2026. The arrivals will be registered by the Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil).
“At present, the Provincial Government is still monitoring and registering them gradually through the Population and Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil) as well as coordination with RT/RW and sub-district offices. The final data will continue to be updated along with the population administration registration process for the new arrivals,” said Special Staff to the Jakarta Governor for Social Communications, Chico Hakim, when contacted on Monday (30/3/2026).
Based on available data, Chico mentioned a trend of declining numbers of arrivals to Jakarta year on year. Chico urged the arrivals to report to their local RT/RW so that they are recorded and can access public services.
Chico stated that the Provincial Government is continually encouraging the creation of jobs in response to this urbanisation phenomenon. The Provincial Government is also monitoring the impact of urbanisation on Jakarta’s conditions.
“Accelerating the creation of quality jobs through investment and training so that arrivals can directly contribute to the economy (taxes, consumption, productivity). Strict monitoring of socio-economic impacts, with priority on protecting original Jakarta residents and fulfilling basic rights for all those active here,” he explained.
Chico said these steps are taken to support Jakarta’s growth. He warned that urbanisation should not negatively affect Jakarta’s conditions.
“The aim is for urbanisation to support growth, not to cause excessive pressure on infrastructure and public services,” he added.
